WORKPLACE TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
The Lighthouse Institute was developed to build, expand, and share Lighthouse’s evidence-based Model of Care and program outcomes.
The Institute is a trauma informed knowledge centre that provides training and consultancy services to organisations working alongside children, young people and families.
We provide a comprehensive selection of pre-designed training programs which seek to build the capability of practitioners and organisations, to be trauma-informed in their practices and service delivery.
We also deliver tailored training packages, customised to the specific needs of your organisation.
Our training programs have been developed using more than 30 years practice, service delivery, reflection, and continuous improvement.
Our training services continue to grow steadily as knowledge of our trauma-informed Model of Care and its effectiveness spreads across sectors. The Lighthouse Institute was also engaged to provide support to the participants in the Royal Commission into Institutionalised Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in 2013 across Australia and has expanded its training and consultancy services into the corporate sector to support the mental health and wellbeing of staff.
Creating a Thoughtful and Sustainable Workplace Community
Drawing on over 30 years of experience in maintaining a thoughtful and sustainable workplace for staff supporting young people heal from their experiences of complex trauma, this training sees participants walk away with an understanding of the psychological theories behind high efficiency teams as well as practical tools and real-world recommendations to implement straight away.
This series of interactive development workshops has been designed by the Lighthouse Institute – in collaboration with clinical therapeutic experts, to give you an understanding of the key theories that underpin staff wellbeing and sustainable practice in a modern business environment. These workshops are available for both leaderships teams and wider staff communities.

Why organisations need to be trauma-informed
The well-being of the organisation, as well as the individuals within it is essential for effective performance and optimum outcomes to be achieved. We consider it essential that organisations pay attention to and develop systems to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at all levels.
Why Workplace Mental Health Matters
1 in 8 people are living with mental illness, with anxiety and depression being most common. The environment within a workplace can have a significant impact on quality of life, and those struggling with mental illness are especially vulnerable to stressors such as long hours, poor relationships with colleagues, and a lack of support or resources.
Stressful working environments don’t just affect workers; Australian workplaces lose $10.9 billion annually due to absenteeism, presenteeism, and compensation claims. On the other hand, companies that prioritise mental health initiatives have seen improvements in organisational performance. By acknowledging and addressing mental health challenges in the workplace, businesses can create a supportive atmosphere that not only boosts productivity but also attracts and retains top-tier talent.
Corporate Mental Awareness Training Benefits
Happy workers are 13% more productive. As an employer, investing in the wellbeing of your team through Lighthouse Foundation’s mental health awareness training packages can help you support your employees to be at their best.
Our programs not only impart valuable insights into mental health, but also equip employees with tools to manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance. By reducing stressors and using coping mechanisms, employees are less likely to experience chronic absenteeism due to mental health concerns, resulting in a more resilient and committed workforce.
At Lighthouse Foundation, we believe in fostering a culture of understanding, promoting inclusivity, and creating workplaces where employees thrive both personally and professionally.
These workshops are available for both leaderships teams and wider staff communities.
How Our Training is Different
At Lighthouse Foundation, we recognise that each workplace is molded by its staff and culture. That’s why we offer tailored corporate mental health training courses that address specific challenges within different industries and companies. This ensures relevance and applicability.
By understanding the unique stressors and dynamics of each workplace, our programs provide practical strategies that resonate with employees. This customisation fosters a proactive and inclusive atmosphere, empowering individuals with tools that directly impact their mental health.
