Our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Strategy
OUR ESG STATEMENT
Using the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as our framework, we identified ten (SDG) priorities to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable practices and to provide our stakeholders with information on how we are contributing to broader sustainability objectives.
These SDGs are considered the ‘grandmother’ of ESG reporting guides and standards recognised by all levels of corporate, government and other organisations who commonly report on ESG issues. They reflect the sustainability areas Lighthouse Foundation is best placed to contribute to, given our organisational purpose and not-for-profit status.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT
Aligning our approach with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Lighthouse supports young people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness or trauma by providing the necessary resources to heal, grow, and achieve a lifelong sense of belonging through our Lighthouse Model of Care.
We not only provide the safe home environment and community connections for our children and young people, we also promote independent living skills and access to the education and training that helps break the cycle of homelessness.

- Care service delivery
- Connection to community
- Advocacy and prevention of youth homelessness
We’re here to give young people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness or trauma the support they need to heal, grow and achieve a lifelong sense of belonging.

With care we build independent living skills and access to education and training for future success.
Social – Our Purpose
- Supporting care staff
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Employee compensation, benefits, learning and development
- Community engagement & collaboration
The people who support our children and young people are at the very heart of our organisation.
We strive to provide our employees and volunteers with a safe, inclusive environment where they are inspired to make a difference.
We believe in supporting our people with compensation, benefits, professional development and support that attracts and retains the right people in the right role.
Governance
- Measuring outcomes and impact
- Ethical leadership and accountability
- Compliance and reporting responsibility
At the heart of Lighthouse Foundation’s commitment to operational excellence and social impact lies a robust governance framework.
Our emphasis on accountability, responsibility and ethical conduct cultivates stakeholder trust.
This trust is pivotal in securing the ongoing funding necessary to advance our mission to end youth homelessness.
Environment
- Donated goods and services
- Purchasing policy: Energy, Waste, Vehicle
At Lighthouse, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact. We’ve implemented solar power for most properties and are asking for support to move company vehicles to hybrids where appropriate. We embrace second-life donations, keeping items like office furniture and IT equipment out of landfills. Additionally, we’re improving recycling with sorting bins across our homes and hubs, and using local depots (e.g. for batteries and mobile phones).
