We recently held our Lighthouse camp over a weekend with 85 people attending from across our community. There were 39 children and young people, six foster and kinship carers and 40 Lighthouse team members who came together for a fun-filled weekend.
Elder, Perry Wandin welcomed us to Wurundjeri Country with a wonderful smoking ceremony. The young people enjoyed lots of activities and challenged themselves on high ropes, low ropes, swimming and a wildlife encounter. For those who wanted to get creative, there was an art activity that will form a big mural. In the evening, everyone enjoyed a talent show where brave young people and Lighthouse team members took to the stage to perform musical numbers, dances and even some interpretive mime.
The sense of community, connections and memories that were made were the true highlight of the weekend. Some of our young people gave us feedback that it was the best camp ever and that they didn’t want to leave because it was so much fun. We’re already looking forward to next year’s camp
