Yesterday on Youth Homelessness Matters Day, Lighthouse took to the State Library Victoria to display 268 life sized ‘Cut Outs’ of children and young people to represent the number of young people experiencing homelessness in the City of Melbourne.
Lord Mayor, Sally Capp AO, and Lighthouse Foundation CEO, Dr Eamonn McCarthy, spoke on the issue and the importance of raising awareness for a crisis that is sadly worsening.
“There are so many challenges around the world at the moment that quite understandably, and quite deservedly, receive peoples’ support and attention – but it doesn’t for one second stop, change or reduce the amount of support our young people in Melbourne require”. Dr Eamonn McCarthy.
We need the support of our community to continue providing young people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness, with the therapeutic care and homes they deserve.
