Vote for Michelle as our Westfield Local Hero!
We're beyond proud to have one of our very own volunteers, Michelle Power, make it as one of the finalists in the inaugural Westfield Local Heroes!
Michelle is currently the Chair of the Heathmont Committee and is well known for her determination, kindness, and gusto for getting things done. We've been so fortunate to have her join us on the Lighthouse volunteer family and we're delighted that her hard work and big heart are being recognized and honored.
Michelle Power was inspired to volunteer with the Lighthouse Foundation after opening her home to a homeless young mother who has a young son. She now works alongside the full-time carers in the foundation’s young parents’ program, which supports girls and their children, offering them a home to live in and a volunteer family to help them.
Westfield Local Heroes are nominated by their communities, and the outcome of the public vote will determine the three successful 2021 Local Heroes for every Westfield centre, with each of their affiliated organisations awarded a $10,000 grant to support their work to thrive. Meaning that if Michelle wins, Lighthouse will be the recipient of $10,000.
The winner is now placed in the hands of the public, with individuals voting for their own Heroes! While Michelle is always going to be the winner in our eyes, if you'd like to show your support, simply head to https://www.westfield.com.au/doncaster/news/7aVUjEBIae4sLSRVY2NDCe/local-heroes-2021 , find Michelle's lovely bio, and cast your vote. Good luck Michelle!!!!!
