It’s Youth Homelessness Matters Day, and our Patron and Nine Network Presenter, Alicia Loxley, has an important message to share. According to the most recent Census data, 45,000 children and young people are without a safe home every night. More than 7,600 young people aged between 12 and 24 are experiencing homelessness in Victoria – an enormous 19.7% increase since 2016.
Most of these young people are based in Melbourne, and as one of the world’s most liveable cities, this is unacceptable. Youth homelessness matters, not just today, but every day, and urgent support is needed to stop young people from becoming a statistic.
