Light up young life these holidays.
Help bring joy to homeless young people this holiday season by running a Lighthouse Wishing Tree gift drive in your workplace, school or with your friends and family.
The holidays are usually full of excitement and happiness, but for many of the young people at Lighthouse this time of year brings up a heady mix of emotions, as they are reminded of Christmas and holiday memories both happy and painful. While we are a non-denominational organisation and our carers come from diverse backgrounds, we celebrate at this time of year and use the holidays to focus on strengthening bonds within our homes and creating new, joyful memories. Giving gifts is an important part of this, especially for the young people in our care who have never before received a present picked out just for them.
Every year Lighthouse works with businesses, schools and individuals to collect gifts for the young people living in our homes as well as those we support through our Outreach program.
How it works
- Let us know you would like to be involved by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Louise on 03 9093 7500.
- We will provide Lighthouse Wishing Tree gift tags (and a Wishing Tree if required), along with instructions for your team. Each tag includes the name of a homeless young person and an item from their holiday wish list.
- Your colleagues, students or members can then pick a gift from the Wishing Tree tags to purchase for a Lighthouse young person. Leave the gift under the tree – unwrapped, with the tag attached.
- In late December, we’ll collect the gifts to be wrapped by our elves and distributed to our Lighthouse young people.
